The Sahara and the Nile, the "empty quarter" and the Jordan river: the MENA region has always been characterised by the tension between droughts and water. Facing a growing population, increasing urbanisation and water consumption, some regions are literally drying up – often, local water usage is not sustainable.

IWRM looks at the entire water cycle and the options and risks of human intervention in order to help establish- a sustainable and comprehensive water management in the MENA region.
